A chair that is reupholstered can create a remarkable difference to a room. Chair reupholstering is very easy to do too. You can do it for less than an hour as long as you are aware of the procedure for it. Enumerated in this article are the steps that you need to follow when reupholstering a chair.
1. You need to remove the seat first. To do this, turn the chair upside down and unscrew the seat for the frame. Once the seat is removed, make the necessary repairs on it (refinish, repaint, retighten bolts, etc.)
2. Next is to remove the old fabric. Turn the seat over and use a staple remover to remove the old fabric. If the staples are hard to remove, pull them out using needle-nose pliers. You will need that old fabric as a pattern for your new one, so don't throw it away yet.
3. Attach the new fabric. Turn your new seat cover right-side down. Place the seat cushion, also right-side down, on top of it. If you have pins, mark the corners of a patterned fabric to make sure they are aligned with the corners of the seat cushion. Starting with the top edge, staple once in the center. Repeat with the bottom edge, pulling the fabric tight before you staple. Repeat with each side, and keep pulling the fabric tight before you staple. Working one side at a time, staple from the center outward, until that side is completely stapled. As you staple, keep pulling the fabric tight and smooth the fabric underneath from the center. Leave the corners unstapled. Repeat on all sides until everything is stapled but the corners.
4. Now it's time to reattach your seat. First is to set the seat on the chair frame. Line up the screw holes to the frame and then you can start attaching the screws in. You're done!
