The quality of content in your website has long been regarded by SEOs as vital to the site's success in the search engines.
Google has always said that it values the quality of your content extremely highly. Of course this makes sense. It is in their interest to send their users to the best websites relevant to their search.
If Google's users started to feel that they were regularly unable to find useful information on the subject they were looking for, they might switch to another search engine. So they will always want to display sites with useful content in their search results.
You need to perform a fine balancing act between writing for SEO and writing what your visitors want to read. Usually these two ideals will not conflict with each other too much. After all any subject will have its own set of keywords and a good article will be likely to include those keywords in the text.
Avoid including too many keywords
If the keywords that a search engine user entered appear naturally in your text, it is likely that they will be satisfied. Likewise if the search engines are aware of keywords in your text, they will be more likely to display the site when a user searches for those keywords.
If in doubt, write for the user rather than the search engine. If you write for a search engine it would be difficult to resist sneaking extra keywords in which will end up making your site look spammy. This will not impress your visitors.
Nothing screams out 'Amateur', 'dodgy' and 'Untrustworthy' quite like the sentence below.
Robinson's Wooden sheds are the number one wooden sheds in the country. Our wooden sheds are hand crafted by experienced wooden shed professionals. Each one of our wooden sheds is designed to fit your wooden shed needs. Blah blah wooden sheds blah wooden sheds.
It is complete overkill. Your customers will know spam when they see it. Whether they realise it is for SEO purposes or not, they won't appreciate having to read such garbage and will not take you very seriously as a company.
'Naturally' written websites are favoured be search engines and visitors
Search engines will also frown upon a paragraph like that. The keyword 'wooden sheds' is appearing far too frequently. The best keyword density is between 3-6%. Much more than that will start to look unnatural.
Search engines can be unforgiving if they suspect you are trying to manipulate them at the expense of the user's experience. Websites can be banned from search results forever.
It is not worth writing in that sort of way. The search engines might ban you and visitors aren't going to buy from you. It is better to write for your visitors and if your content is good enough, the keywords should appear naturally in the text.
